Guide To Asian Handicap,Odds, Over/under Betting Football For Beginers

asian handicap

To beginners, the numbers and terms in football betting sites can confuse them and they can hardly understand what they mean. This article is to help new gamblers clarify those term and have a better understanding about betting in football matches.

Asian Handicap

Originated in Indonesia, Asian handicap betting is a popular measure to determine which team, between the two, is handicapped. Handicap bets are made according to the teams’ current form and recent results, and a stronger estimated team must win by a few certain goals for a gambler to win. There are some common Asian handicaps such as one-quarter goal to several goals, in addition of half- or even quarter-goals.

Among popular sports, maybe football is the one with regular draw results. Traditionally, draws are seen as subordinate outcome in every football game. And when it happens, those who betted on either team will lose money. Asian Handicaps are used to reduce the possibility for a draw and there might be more winners thanks to this.

Generally, Asian handicap is giving advantage for the team which is less likely to win (also called the Underdog) when facing a stronger team (the Favorite). The advantage here is usually goals, sometimes it’s points. For example:

Match: Barcelona vs. AC Milan

Handicap: AC Milan +1.0, +1.5

This means that the handicap estimates that half of your bet goes on AC Milan to win, draw, or lose by less than 1 goal; and half on AC Milan to win, draw, or lose by less than 1.5 goals.

If the final score (Full-time) is Barcelona 1-0 AC Milan, the bettor would be refunded half his bet because of draw (Barcelona 1 – +1 AC Milan, i.e: AC Milan lost by one goal). The second half would win (Barcelona 1 – +1.5 AC Milan, i.e: AC Milan lost by less than 1.5 goals).
